Universitario style
An evening designed for General level students and beginners.
ForroForro is a casual Brazilian dance. Some Forro steps can be seen in Cumbia and others in Ballroom Samba. There are different Forro music styles which allows for different dance styles including the Latin Hustle. Another authentic Brazilian dance is Samba de Gafieira.
Forro, the dance, evolved in north-eastern Brazil as a dance companion to Forro music. Some say the word Forró came from the English expression ‘for all’, since this an easy dance for that everybody can learn, – a dance for all. Others say the word derives from forrobodó, a happy Brazilian party.
Characteristic Movements of Forro Dance
Forro shares a characteristic bounce with Samba de Gafieira. It is the kind of bounce that is frowned upon in ballroom dancing. The movements are also very similar to Cuban style Salsa, in particular turns.
Forro is an authentic Brazilian dance where relaxing, feeling and interpreting the music is more important than posture and technique. It is a street type dance and has not been regimented by the Ballroom fraternity…….yet!
Schedule of workshop.
7.30pm-8pm Introduuctory movements and exploring the “feeling” of the dance.
8pm-9pm Developing dance steps for the party events including turns and even a Sacada!
9pm-9.15pm Break time with Drinks, cake and biscuits.

9.15pm-10pm Guided practice time to individually assist those on the workshop plus time to practice the movements learned.
This is a full on session that will have you moving from the opening minutes till the end of the class. I use partner rotation system so that the men learn how to lead women and women become better followers, responding to the different leads.
